Mr. Gurjit Singh Barara, the founder of LR Energy, has transformed India’s anaerobic digestion (AD) sector, turning waste into renewable energy and promoting sustainability. Established in 2016, LR Energy has become a leader in waste-to-energy solutions, focusing on zero waste and the circular economy. With a postgraduate degree in electronics and a patented methane purification technology developed at IIT Delhi, Mr. Barara combines technical innovation with extensive experience from industry giants like TATA Power and Reliance Industries. His deep expertise in renewable energy and biofuels shaped LR Energy’s vision of converting waste into Compressed Biogas (CBG). After four years of rigorous R&D, LR Energy launched its first two AD plants, which will prevent 32,000 tons of CO2 emissions annually. These plants process waste from sugar industries, poultry farms, and corn processing industries into biogas, demonstrating a scalable model for clean energy. Under Mr. Barara’s leadership, LR Energy has created over 1,000 jobs, contributed to rural skill development, and stimulated economic growth in local communities. By integrating advanced international technologies with in-house expertise, LR Energy has enhanced biogas generation and significantly contributed to India’s clean energy transition.
