Mr. Ekas Barara, a visionary entrepreneur under 30, has emerged as a trailblazer in India’s anaerobic digestion and compressed biogas (CBG) sector. A graduate of the prestigious Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, Ekas is the co-founder of LR Energy. With over seven years of experience, he has been instrumental in driving sustainability, innovation, and industry transformation. Under Ekas’s leadership, LR Energy has revolutionized waste management by converting agricultural and industrial waste—previously burned into harmful gases—into renewable energy and organic fertilizers. Ekas played a key role in developing LR Energy’s zero-waste design, ensuring no harmful emissions are produced while maximizing the value of every byproduct. Ekas’s strategic leadership helped secure equity financing from GAIL India Limited, making LR Energy the first CBG-producing company to receive such investment. He also secured debt financing from Indian government banks and Letters of Intent for multiple CBG projects. Through his efforts, LR Energy has created employment opportunities and fostered rural development, impacting over 1,000 families. Ekas’s work has set new benchmarks in India’s energy transition.
