Helen has been an active promoter of the biomethane-to-grid market in the UK since its inception, making use of the commercial experience she gained at British Gas and Northern Electric. As co-founder and CEO of Ceres Energy, she has contributed to the growing size and profitability of the market whilst ensuring clients always receive the excellent customer support and bespoke commercial solutions they have come to expect from Ceres. Working with her business partner Graeme Hunter, Helen has overseen Ceres’s continued growth as a provider of specialist gas shipping services to biomethane-to-grid projects across the UK and a supplier of biomethane to the road transport sector. Ceres blossomed to the point where in early 2021 it was able to acquire Barrow Shipping (better known to some as Barrow Green Gas). Since that time the companies, led by Helen, have moved from strength to strength and they now ship biomethane for over 40 production sites with another 30+ projects in the pipeline. In 2024 Helen continues to lead the company into new markets and achieve new industry firsts, with Ceres signing the UK’s first green hydrogen shipping contract and becoming shipper for the first biomethane to grid project in Northern Ireland.
