Head of Biomethane Projects, SGN Commercial Services
Bio: Alan is a degree qualified engineer, with extensive engineering and project management experience gained over a forty-five-year career in the gas industry. He has been supporting biomethane development since 2009, leading the UK’s first award winning biomethane projects at both Didcot in 2010 and Poundbury in 2012. He has developed the majority of SGN Commercial Services’ biogas & biomethane project portfolio across the UK, including the of the 1st of its kind Biomethane Gas Injection Hub Facility at Portsdown Hill (2014). More recently, Alan has been heading up the build of several key biogas upgrading sites for UK Water companies as well as carrying out a biomethane injection hub design for Acorn Bioenergy.
Alan’s contribution to the gas and biomethane industry has seen him been awarded IGEM Engineer of the Year and ADBA Hero of the Year. He currently sits on UK biomethane industry advisory boards and chair’s green gas technical working groups.
