CCS Systems for Large Scale Bio-Methan Plants
Company: NORTH-TEC Maschinenbau GmbH
Country: Germany
North-Tec has delivered five large-scale, fully integrated carbon capture and liquefaction systems for biomethane plants operated by BioCirc in Denmark, transforming conventional anaerobic digestion into a net-negative energy solution. The projects, all currently under construction, will collectively capture, purify, liquefy, and enable the permanent storage of approximately 140,000 tonnes of biogenic CO₂ per year. By integrating CCS directly into the biomethane upgrading process and enabling decentralized transport via road logistics, North-Tec has removed a major barrier to deploying BECCS at anaerobic digestion facilities. The solution enhances the climate impact, long-term resilience, and commercial sustainability of AD plants while providing a scalable model that can be replicated across the UK and international markets.
