With outstanding safety performance stretching back over a decade (with a million plus man hours safely worked), SGN Green Gas Solutions has a proud record of keeping everyone safe. Following a serious and sudden illness which befell a colleague on site, we have implemented several initiatives to further enhance our safety and wellbeing protocols:
- Mental health first aid – We have been promoting a ‘safe to speak up’ environment, sharing experiences and training team members as mental health first aiders (supporting staff and project partners alike).
- Emergency contact tags on hard hats – All our site staff and contractors now have a hard hat with an “In Case of Emergency (ICE)” tag carrying medical and emergency details.
- Defibrillators on all our construction and operational worksites – We hope that having “defibs” at the site entrance gate and staff trained in their use could help save a life.
- Additional ways to support our people and their families when they need it most – Over and above our personal commitment to each other, we have educated ourselves on the SGN corporate policies and mechanisms that can be leveraged to support employees in need. This support might range from practical measures immediately after any incident, through to a personalised plan for the return to work.
- Lone working monitors – Our “Personal Atmosphere Monitors (PAMS)” offer both panic alarm and fall alarm functionality. All our staff wear these units when on site.
