The municipality of Ntuissong is one of the few in Cameroon with a functioning waste collection system. This is thanks to Chinelum Hinelum Boma. Every morning, the 26-year-old sets off with a wheelbarrow. He collects pig manure, cassava husks and other organic waste. He then shreds it and mixes it with water. Every day he collects 150 kilograms. Enough to run the community farm’s 20 cubic meter fixed dome plant. Families use the biogas for cooking. The fertilizer for their farms. Above all, however, the community has become clean. In the afternoon, after many hours of hard work, Boma documents his activities for a UNEP research project to prove the idea of community based waste and energy solutions.
